David: The girls started their 12-week journey this last week with their first exercise sessions.
This can be a rude shock for the body (especially the muscles) so it’s critical to ensure you get plenty of stretching and keep the mus-cles moving.
The PowerFlex class has been a great add on for them.
Drinking lots of water has also made a massive difference to how their bodies react.
Helpful Hint – Try to drink everyday at least one litre of water for every 25 kilograms you weigh, plus an extra litre of water for every hour of exercise.
Most people are generally dehydrated and by drinking more water you’ll see improvements in energy, fewer headaches or dizziness and even a better looking skin!
Liz: This week has been a big change for me but a very positive one.
I am not used to doing this much exercise and my body is certainly feeling it.
David and all of the Step into Life members have been great .
Everyone is so willing to help, which is a nice change from a normal intimidating gym env-iroment, where people keep to themselves in my experience.
David asked us to give up one thing this week, mine was pasta.
I am managing three litres of water a day well.
Lastly, I am quite partial to the odd wine. So, I am having at least three alcohol-free days a week and low-alcohol wines in moderation on the other days, which is unheard of for me.
I am looking forward to the week ahead and a weigh in too!
Nikki: Drinking three litres of water each day has been a challenge.
I chose to give up coffee.
Pre-baby I was only a tea drin-ker but with getting up through the night I relied on coffee to keep me going through the day.
With it came the biscuits.
The first few days I really missed it, but a week later I’m loving my herbal tea again.
This week I attended one cardio, two boxing and a Power-Flex class.
PowerFlex was a great late afternoon class; I felt very relaxed and stretched out.
It was a sneak up on you class, you don’t think you are doing much until the next day, I felt muscles I did not know existed get a wake up call – especially abs, good thing as I would not say I have a six pack at the moment!
Abby: This week I started my 12-week journey with Step into Life.
I have always enjoyed exer-cising but the next few months I have set the challenges to increase my cardio fitness, muscle tone and flexibility.
And I’m adjusting to the chall-enge of a 5.30am waking.
This is my choice as there are classes at different times thro-ughout the week.
I am already finding that I appreciate the morning’s quiet-ness and watching the sun rise .
On Monday we braved the wind and rain as we pushed through a cardio boxing class.
After Thursday’s class I could really feel the blood pulsating throughout my body.
Already my muscles feel a little stronger and I am looking forward to the week ahead.
