Tersha Rich has wanted to enter the Newcastle Showgirl competition ever since she was young.
After going to the show every year when she was a child and watching the showgirls compete, Miss Rich decided she wanted to be a part of it all.
And now she is old enough, Miss Rich, from Marks Point, has done just that.
The 18-year-old has put in an application form for this year’s Skoda Newcastle Showgirl competition and cannot wait to take part.
Miss Rich said she hoped to gain more confidence from the competition.
“I’m a finalist for Miss World NSW and will compete in April, so I want to build up my public speaking and learn how to interact with people,” Miss Rich said.
She said she was not nervous about the competition because she knew a lot of rural knowledge and a lot about Newcastle.
“I used to live on a farm at Jewells for 14 years, so I understand how it all works,” Ms Rich said.
“I know the competition is also about poise and presentation and I believe I tick all those boxes.”
She spent most of her younger days at the farm, but Miss Rich said her favourite part about Newcastle is its beaches.
The beaches will be just one of the topics Miss Rich will speak about in the showgirl competition.
Single and married women, aged between 18 and 25 are both eligible to enter the competition.
Go to www.newcastleshow.com.au or phone 4961 2085 for more information on how to enter the competition.
Entries close on Friday, March 12.
