Staffing levels at Cardiff Railway Station will be maintained except for the loss of one supervisor’s position on the weekends.
This is what has been reported from the NSW Transport Ministry.
Cardiff chamber of Commerce president Robert Denton said he was happy with the result.
“I think it was a fair and reasonable outcome.
“They have taken our concerns into consideration and have compromised with us.”
Wallsend MP Sonia Hornery said the government had revisited its previous decision to cut weekend staff at the station following an outcry from commuters and rail staff.
Meanwhile, Charlestown MP Matthew Morris has campaigned for an upgrade of Cardiff Railway Station.
But said he has not been satisfied with the response.
Mr Morris said he would like to see a lift installed at the station in order to make it more accessible for comm-uters.
“The railway station needs to be improved; Cardiff station is the third busiest stations in the region.”
Mr Morris said he has contacted NSW transport minister David Campbell in relation to the matter but has heard nothing in reply.
He said he had also extended an invitation to NSW premier Nathan Rees to have a look at Cardiff Railway Station.
The premier has not responded to Mr Morris.
