Locals enjoy the national day on Tuesday, January 26

People across the region enjoyed a full day of entertainment on Australia Day, January 26.

Food and market stalls took place at Newcastle Foreshore all day.

There were multicultural displays, street performers, vintage farm machinery and a show and shine cars display.

The citizenship ceremony took place at the carriage sheds as well as the volunteer/co-mmunity groups’ ceremony.

Newcastle Port Corporation held free port tours on Newcastle Stockton ferries.

There were tunnel tours of Fort Scratchley.

At Queens Wharf, the Stockton to Queens Wharf swim took place followed by the annual Ducks for Dollars fundraiser,

At Lake Macquarie, Australia Day awards were at Speers Point Park from 3pm, followed by the scouts’ canoe race, the citizenship ceremony then music featured local bands Sundays Record and Rhythm Connections and main act Deep Creek.
