A ROUNDABOUT will be constructed at the intersection of T C Frith Avenue and Main Road, Boolaroo before any houses are built on the old Pasminco site.
Lake Macquarie City Council staff confirmed the timeline in which the developments would take place at last week's council meeting.
Pasminco's site administrator, Ferrier Hodgson, applied to the council to subdivide 14 hectares before building a roundabout.
The plan was hatched last year after residents complained Main Road would be closed to make way for a new road system.
Funds for the roundabout will come from Ferrier Hodgson.
A council spokeswoman said council officers were assessing a development application for part of the Pasminco site.
She said if consent was granted, then construction of the roundabout would occur first.
At the meeting, councillors voted to adopt the amended Pasminco plan, which means the council will determine development applications on the land in the plan.
The plan contains a road layout that incorporates a large roundabout at the intersection of T C Frith Avenue, Main Road and the proposed extension of Munibung Road.
Lake Macquarie mayor Greg Piper said NSW Roads and Maritime Service (formally the RTA) had concerns about the size of the roundabout.
