The East Coast Surf Festival kicks off this Saturday, November 7, with round one hosted by Dixon Park SLSC.

This new competition ensures surf sports athletes from NSW have the opportunity to compete against the very best in a three round series hosted by Newcastle and the Central Coast

The festival is a joint initiative of Hunter, Central Coast, Sydney Northern Beaches and Sydney branches to give surf sports athletes quality competition.

With the support of major sponsor EnergyAustralia festival organisers have a prize pool of $75,000 in cash and prizes.

The concept involves the first two rounds as qualifiers for the final round to be held at Shelly Beach.

The top 16 competitors from each event, age division and gender will qualify for the third and final round.

Age groups include under 15, under 17, under 19 and open age competitors, both male and female.

Events include ironperson relay (three-person taplin), ironperson, board, swim, ski (except under 15), sprint and flags along with an all-age (beach) relay.

The three rounds will be held at venues that have a natural amphitheatre ensuring the spectators have the opportunity to witness elite surf sports athletes’ battle against each other and Mother Nature.

Round 2 and 3 is set for Shelly Beach on the Central Coast on Saturday, November 21 and Sunday, November 22.

Go to www.surffestival.com.au for all details.

In other results, round two of the Nestle Peters Surf Boast Series was held at Stockton beach last Sunday, November 1, in windy conditions.

Winners of each category include: Nobbys Diggers in the U19 men, Swansea Trough Lollies in the U23 male, Cooks Hill in the U23 female, Macs Beach 20s in the reserves, Ocean Beach Pygmies in the open men, Macmasters Beach in the open women, Caves Beach in the masters men, Nobbys Pashas in the masters female, and in the combined final of U23 and open men Avoca U23s crossed the line first.

Go to www.hsls.org.au for all of the results.
