Lake Macquarie has produced another state tennis representative.
Adrienne Harvey of Macquarie Hills has been selected as a part of the NSW Primary Schools Sports Association team.
Adrienne is the Hunter’s sole NSW representative for this year.
She was outstanding in leading the Hunter girls at the recently conducted intra-state carnival in Bathurst.
The Hunter team managed by Jonathon Russell finished a credible eighth from 16 teams. Adrienne has been working very hard at her game and is regularly at Lake Macquarie Tennis Centre with her farther Phil doing those extra practice sessions.
This dedication and Adrienne’s talent has contributed greatly to her success.
The Australian Davis Cup team is just one tie from equalling the Federation Cup team’s effort of returning to the world group.
The Davis Cup team lead by Lleyton Hewitt soundly defeated Japan five rubbers to nil over the weekend.
Davis Cup rookie Carsten Ball validated team captain John Fitzgerald’s decision to throw him into the singles on day one, thriving on the pressure and winning both singles ties.
Australia will now compete in the world group play-offs against either, Belgium, Italy, South Africa, Brazil, Romania, or Austria and if successful will enter the world group and a shot at Davis Cup glory.
