Hunter Academy targets refs

THE region's up-and-coming referees will be targeted at the Hunter Academy of Sport's basketball referees talent development program.

Held in conjunction with the Basketball Association of Newcastle, the selected group of referees attended their orientation meeting during last month and are now involved in a series of regular Friday afternoon training sessions at the academy office.

Those selected include Brooke Astley, Adamstown Heights; Russell Bradshaw, Elermore Vale; Glenn Chapman, Elermore Vale; Aaron Dombkins, Eleebana; Ryan Edwards, New Lambton; Tom Freeman, Tighes Hill; Joe Kelley, Mount Hutton; Joshua Knight, Maryland; Mario Kondosorou, Wallsend; Karen Lyth, Adamstown; and Trent Middleton, Lambton.

In other academy news,this year's clay target shooting talent development squad will have its orientation meeting at the Newcastle Lake Macquarie Clay Target Shooting Club this Saturday, February 11 at 10am.

Squad members include Lilly Gosling, Elermore Vale; Ellen Karabetsis, Valentine; and Steven Karabetsis, Valentine.
