After enjoying a week off thanks to a bye, the Hunters ABA (Australian Basketball Association) teams will return home this Saturday night to take on the North Sydney Bears.
The Hunters have attracted large and very vocal crowds to their home games this season, which makes for a great family night out, and Saturday night's games are a great opportunity for the Hunters to impress.
The women’s side tip off at 5pm. They will be looking to consolidate their position in the top six.
Last time these two teams met, the Hunters were without both centres Kelsey Moss and Maddi Allen, and were demolished on the boards, losing 70-35.
But with the return of Moss and Allen, and some on-court assistance from former Opals assistant coach and Olympic silver medallist Peter Lonergan at practice last week, the Hunters will be pushing hard to work their way up a tight ladder.
The Hunters men tip off at 7pm, and will be keen to put on an entertaining game for the loyal Hunters crowd.
Despite being in last place on the competition ladder, the Hunters men have been drawing great support from fans.
The Hunters put on a great night of entertainment for the whole family, and with family passes for $10 it's great value, too.
Newcastle Basketball took advantage of the weekend off by holding its annual trivia night. More than 160 people enjoyed a great night of fun.
But there was more than just trivia points up for grabs. The play of the night came from men’s captain Al Swystun who won the half-court challenge.
Al will be hoping to show off those shooting skills against the Bears on Saturday.
Newcastle Basketball wishes to thank those who supported the night, not just by attending, but by donating prizes and helping with the set-up, clean-up and all the fun in between.
