Big swell and plenty of fish at Lake Macquarie

10 Feb, 2010 03:00 AM
Tough fishing conditions have kept all but the keenest of anglers home for the weekend.

The wild seas do, however, improve some fishing locations.

Bream love a rough sea, in areas like Bolder Bay, as it produces plenty of food.

Snapper tend to feed after a blow for the same reason.

Whiting has been around in good numbers on Stockton beach, using live worms whether they are Beach, Blood or Tube worms will interest them.

Lake Macquarie is having a great run on the whiting. However, the best results have been coming from the use of poppers. Suga Penns, Gunfish and others have been working a treat.

Lake Macquarie has been having a nice run of Yellow Tail Kingfish and jew. The drop over has been the place for a king.

The reefs and wrecks have been holding plenty of baitfish. These are ideal spots to try for a jew fish or a snapper.

The Lake Macquarie game fishing club big fish bonanza was held over the weekend.

Blue Marlin up to 186 kilograms were weighed.

Tackle Power’s Glenn Evans weighed a Blue Marlin of 112kg and a Dolphin Fish of 25kg.
