fishing reports from all popular Newcastle and Lake Macquarie spots

01 Jul, 2009 04:00 AM
This weekend Lake Macquarie plays host to the latest round of the ABT NSW Bream Super Series.

Three days of tournament fishing will be held from this Friday, July 3 to Sunday July 5.

Weigh in and the competition site will be at Croudace Bay Parklands.

Fishing reports have been coming from most of the popular areas this week.

Stockton Beach has slowed a little with the lack of swell, however, dawn and dusk should see a couple of tailor and bream caught using pilchards for bait.

Newcastle Harbour and Stockton Breakwall is producing some nice bream at the moment.

The winter westerly wind and clam seas have allowed plenty of rock fishing over the past week. Catches mainly consist of black drummer, luderick, bream and the odd groper.

Tackle Power staff member Glenn Evens spent his days off on Lake Macquarie.

Glenn was aiming for a snapper; however, a live tailor was also deployed.

Half an hour later a 13-kilogram jew came aboard.

Tailor has moved into the lake in good numbers.

The hot water outlet at Eraring has been working well.
