The 2010 NIB Festival of Sport committee would like to invite sporting organisations to participate in the 2010 NIB Hunter Festival of Sport, which will run from July 3 to 18.
The purpose of the festival is to give particularly young people an opportunity to be involved in enjoyable, healthy sporting activities during the school winter vacation.
The NIB Hunter Festival of Sport is an annual event held in the July school holidays.
The Festival includes:
>> Coaching Clinics and “Come and Try” Days. These may be arranged in various formats and for all age groups – dependent on needs etc. Preferably these events will be conducted during the first week of the festival (Saturday, July 3 to Sunday, July 11).
>> Competitions for regional academies for sport squads. As these squads are usually in the 14 – 17 age group, association or club Under 16 or Under 18 teams would provide appropriate competition. The festival committee will organise the competitions for regional academies.
>> Masters Sports Competitions. The academy hopes to further develop our master competitions and to encourage all members of the community to get involved in sport.
>> Forums. These will include general discussions designed to assist those involved in the various facets of sport.
The academy would like to indicate that individual sporting associations/clubs who organise coaching clinics, “come and try” days and competitions should basically organise these activities themselves, but should seek the committee’s assistance if necessary.
A printed program, a newspaper supplement and NBN Televisions ads featuring the activities included in the festival, will be used to promote these activities and the festival generally.
The committee will assist with the promotion and publicity of the events, by promoting them through schools, media etc. as much as possible – and so promoting activities through combined efforts.
The NIB Hunter Festival of Sport Committee looks forward to huge participation in the 2010 NIB Hunter Festival of Sport.
Any questions concerning the Festival of Sport should be directed to the Hunter Academy of Sport Office, phone 4926 4892.
