Windy days kept fishing to lake and river last week

21 Oct, 2009 04:00 AM
Fishing for the most part lately has been restricted to the lake and river thanks to some windy days.

Those that have headed offshore have been getting some lovely flathead drifting pilchard baits in about 40 metres of water.

The south arm of the Hunter River has produced bream up to 36cm as well as a few blue swimmer crabs.

Lake Macquarie has been the spot for whiting on the sand flats.

Live worms have been the gun bait as normal.

However, Glenn Evans used a lucky craft Sammy 65 to great effect.

The water temp in the lake has climbed up a few degrees and the new moon has brought out some prawns.

Bream have taken a liking to the new colours in the Gulp 2-inch Baby Shrimp.

Squid have been caught from the rocks around Boat Harbour, Big Ben and Moon Island.

Have a range of sizes and colours in your squid jigs because you never know what they will want to eat.
