Hunter girls shine at the NSW combined high school tennis carnival at Armidale.
The team of Tara Hamilton (Kotara High School), Gianna Martine (Merewether High School), Sophie Belevski (Kotara High School), Gemma Dorn (Maitland High School), Nikki Hamilton (Kotara High School), Bronwyn Plowman (Hunter Sports High School), Michelle Eastcott (Morisset High School), Erin Hebblewhite (Gloucester High School) and Krystal Dahns (Kotara High School) were silver medallists to Sydney East.
Manager Melissa Pulsford of Irrawang High School was extremely pleased with the way the girls knitted as a team, producing some outstanding results.
Congratulations to Gemma Dorn who was named in the Honorary team as the number four player of the carnival.
Following the girls outstanding effort we look forward to the Hunter boys team matching their female counterparts when they compete in Boys NSW Combined High Schools Carnival also in Armidale, the first week in November.
Lake Macquarie Tennis Centre’s Friday Ladies Midweek competition concluded this week.
The strong hitting team of Angela Dahms, Kath Willis, Donna Roddam and Carolyn Moore took out the title from Julie Allsopp, Judy Mitchell, Donna and Danielle Hepple. Our ladies certainly enjoy their tennis with the Friday competition being of excellent standard.
We are hoping Lake Macquarie Tennis Centre personality Chris Ward will be back competing on Fridays in the New Year.
Chris has had a slow recovery from shoulder surgery and has been greatly missed.
A special note for all Lake Macquarie Tennis Club and competition secretaries, I would be only too pleased to publish your club competition results. Just contact me on 4954 9877 or 0412 157 757.
Local tennis and its participants deserve recognition for outstanding efforts.
