Tennis NSW state coach John Thompson and player development general manager Mark Wilton visited Lake Macquarie Tennis Centre on Saturday, May 22.
The Hunter Academy of Sport squad and selected elite athletes attended a training session conducted by Thompson and Wilton.
Tennis NSW is working hard to identify talented country junior players and help guide them along their development pathway.
John and Mark are back on June 19 at Lake Macquarie Tennis Centre to conduct a day on-court training session, weather permitting.
And despite president Stephen Healey moving on to become Tennis Australia’s new president elect, our state administration under the direction of CEO Glenn Tasker has released the From Grassroots to Grand Slam strategic plan for tennis in NSW 2011 to 2015.
The plan is simple and accessible to all members and registered players and focuses on four key elements, grassroots development, facility development, player development, and business development.
The installation of a much improved membership and registration systems, My Tennis Registration, for 2010/2011 is easing the burden on club administrators and coaches and allowing greater time to concentrate on growing tennis participation.
We do not always agree with its decisions but Tennis NSW is pro active in administering our sport.
