PUBLIC protest has forced the state government to review its decision to slash funding for Renew Newcastle from $50,000 to $30,000.
The funding cut would jeopardise the future of the arts initiative in the city centre. The program has enlivened empty shopfronts.
The not-for-profit organisation received the news of the cut in response to its application seeking $70,000 for the next year.
