JUST how fascinating Australia's wildlife can be was recently revealed to a group of young readers.
Twenty-two children at Lake Macquarie Educational Preschool were treated to a visit by Valentine author Kristine Locket, who gave a fun and interactive reading of her book Kevin's Very First Adventure.
Locket's first literary endeavour is the tale of a little joey named Kevin who sets off on a journey in the Australian bush.
In an age when libraries were so often bombarded with American imports, the story gave young readers a refreshing insight into Australian wildlife, Locket said.
And the Mount Hutton preschoolers responded with nothing but enthusiasm to the beautifully illustrated book.
Four-year-old Zander Sampson, of New Lambton, said he loved Kevin's cool adventure.
Locket is available for readings to preschools, schools or groups.
