Warners Bay residents in running for Showgirl crown

WARNERS Bay resident Bronte Donovan is confident she has what it takes to be the next Newcastle Showgirl.

The 21-year-old self-confessed adventurer said she was very excited to add entrant to the showgirl competition to her already full resume.

Miss Donovan, an animal enthusiast, is a volunteer at Oakvale Farm and Fauna World in Salt Ash - where she assists in animal food preparation, cleaning cages and ensuring the overall well-being of the wildlife.

With her life goal to become a zoo keeper, Miss Donovan has recently started an animal studies course at Taronga Zoo in Sydney, where she attends a weekly evening class.

Her other hobbies include socialising with friends and family, creating YouTube videos and dressing up.

She fulfils many of the judging criteria: young, ambitious and with a keen interest in the local community.

"I have begun brushing up on my general knowledge and am getting excited about being there," she said.

■ Entrants for the 2013 Advanced School of Beauty Therapy Newcastle Showgirl must be between 18 and 25 and register by February 15. Go to newcastleshow.com.au for more information.
