Diversity to be showcased at Newcastle Show

EMBRACING the many community groups throughout Newcastle will be the theme of the coming Newcastle Show on Friday, March 1.

The multicultural precinct will house a diverse mix of artists, performers and tantalising cuisines during the three-day event.

African music, Irish dancers, a family of Scottish bagpipe players, glamorous belly dancers and many more will all be on show and ready to be celebrate with the wider community.

Multicultural precinct co-ordinator Hannah Lambert said the multicultural space would be arranged like a European piazza to make the most of the outdoor space so spectators can enjoy different food while being entertained by performances on stage.

"This is the first time the cultural precinct has existed so it is really exciting that we can connect with all members of the community," Miss Lambert said.

"I would also say the Jamaican dancing will be something to look out for."

She also promises new rides, new stages and other entertainment.

■ The Newcastle Show kicks off on Friday, March 1 and runs until Sunday, March 3.
