12 Weeks of fitness diary - The first hurdle

David Corin, Step Into Life trainer

THE girls have all started in earnest with their 12 weeks of fitness training and are enjoying trying a range of different classes.

Making sure you have variety in your training regime is critical to staying motivated and ensuring you really get the most out of your training.

The first week is always the hardest of any training program.

Your body is struggling to adjust to the new exercise routine and your mind is trying to create excuses to give up and take the softer options.

Get through that first week, establish the right habits and you are on the path to making change, permanently.

YEAH! I’ve made it through the first week, sore but determined.

The mind was willing but the body protested – a lot.

It’s been good to get the heart rate up and get muscles exercising as well as having quiet time at the end of a class.

I’m looking forward to healthier eating and losing some kilos.

So it’s a big green go light from now.

AT the end of my first week, I am feeling really positive about achieving my goals during the next 12 weeks.

I attended four sessions this week and have some very sore muscles.

But you know the saying: ‘‘No pain no gain’’.

IF you have to exercise, what a location to do it in. Even with the wild weather,  the view is awesome.

So far I have tried a whole range of different classes.

Tone up with resistance cords, kickbox with punches and kicks, and my favourites were the fit ball sessions called Core Ball – great for the abs.
