THE deluge of the past two weekends has certainly restricted tennis activities in the Newcastle area with the Medibank Junior Development Series cancelled on both Sundays.
However Richard Nicholls and Top Spin Tennis were able to conduct their Hot Shots tournament last Sunday at District Park.
This great junior development concept had players as young as 7 and 8 years of age competing on mini courts, using low compression balls and playing with modified rules.
For many this was their first experience at competition and by all reports all players had a wonderful time. In other tennis news, Lake Macquarie Tennis Centre completed two of its ladies competitions last week with new competitions starting this week.
Congratulations to team Volleys, Judy McPherson and Narelle Rutherford, in winning the Wednesday ladies competition and team Slammers, Nicole Jeffs and Kylie Johnson, in winning the Thursday ladies competition.
