This program continued last Sunday, April 7 when the squad had its first fitness testing session and then some practical training at the Hunter Sports Centre at Glendale.
Squad members are looking forward to their annual live in camp which is set down for the Myuna Bay Sport and Recreation Centre on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19.
The competition for places in this squad is certainly increasing in intensity and squad head coach David Holt has again (as a result) a very talented group of athletes to work with.
It is very heartening to see younger people (who are ex – Hunter Academy of Sport squad members) like Matt Harris, Liam Speers, Joshua Horn, Alison Baillache, Lenore Beaton, Matt Horsnell, Caryn Brett, Elana Withnall, Natalie Ferris, Mikaela White, Jack Katen, Rory Bramble and David Waller becoming involved as members of the Hunter Academy coaching staff.
In so doing passing their knowledge and the benefits of their experiences to the present squad members who are:
DISTANCE; Tyson Beatty, Brooke Coggins, Rose Davies, Griffin Del Caro, Jesse Maxwell, James Turner, and Chloe Walters. WALKS; Cory McGinniskin, Eric Morey and Damien Owen.
HURDLES; Kayley Alsford, Luke Batten, Trent Halton, Lucas Sullivan, Grace Weir and Hayden Bell.
JUMPS; Jake Ellis, Joshua Millford, Lucas Millward, Brandon Thompson and Isobel Warby.
MULTI-EVENT; Emma-Sue Greentree, Brodie McCann, Callen Meir and Makenzie Scott.
SPRINTS; Ben Allen, Aiden Hampton, Flynn Lefmann, Stephanie Bain, Luke Haworth, Christian Polkinghorne and Declan Spencer.
THROWS; Lee Angwin, Tegan Fennell, Tom Gilbert, Aiden Harvey, Georgia Rowan, Emma Stokes and Laura Stokes.
THE 2013 Hunter Academy of Sport rugby league talent development squad is again this year involved in a program of regular Monday night training sessions.
Following last night’s training session at the Hunter Sports High School, the squad will train on 22 April, 6 May, 20 May and 3June before playing a match against NSW Combined Independent Schools on 5 June. Colin Sanctuary is the new program co-ordinator and he is being supported by Ian Thompson (as head coach), Greg Edwards (as manager), and coaches Justin Ryder, Darren Taylor, Gerald Bradshaw and Paul Myers.
The boys in this year’s squad are – Elijah Andrews, Sam Apthorpe, Blake Bradney, Dylan Campbell, Kiah Cooper, Callen Edwards, Dean Gavin, Ryan Glanville, Shaun Hinton, Brendan Hogan, Brock Hollis, Ryan Holman, Jake Hourn, Zac Hosking, Thomas Johnson, Daniel Jurd, Zac Keenan, Tom Madden, Joey Morris, Nicholas Newman, Frazer Price, Isaac Richardson, Keelan Sharp, Lincoln Smith and Connor Watson.
THE Hunter Academy of Sport is very fortunate to have a very capable and knowledgeable group of consultants involved in providing a sound and broad education base for each of its talent development programs.
These people, many of whom are leaders in their fields of expertise, give of their time liberally and certainly make very significant contributions to the success of the academy programs.

The Hunter Academy of Sport archery talent development squad is continuing its regular training sessions on Tuesday evenings at the Maitland Showground under the guidance of coaches Peter Fairhall and Lou Knez along with program co-ordinator Lynne Fairhall.
