IMMERSE yourself in Chinese tradition this Sunday at the University of Newcastle, as the university's Confucius Institute celebrates its inaugural China Festival.
The institute is a non-profit educational organisation that runs a range of courses from calligraphy, to tai chi and Chinese language.
The festival aims to encourage a greater understanding of Chinese culture and language in Newcastle and the Hunter.
On Sunday the focus will be on community workshops.Visitors can take part in free calligraphy and tai chi workshops with experienced instructor Jingfen Xiao.
Ms Xiao said both disciplines were "very good for health and inner peace . . . good to focus the mind".
Other workshops will include traditional lion dancing, dumpling making, paper folding and martial arts performances.
