FINISH lines were crossed and personal records were broken at the Lake Macquarie Running Festival last Sunday.
Conditions on the spring-like day were favourable, with the temperature rising to 24 degrees.
More than 2800 entrants gathered at Warners Bay to compete in a variety of races between the foreshore and Speers Point.
These included the 21.2-kilometre half marathon, 10.5km fun run and 4km kids' scamper.
Event organiser Kate Griffiths said the day was a great success.
"We received great feedback from all the runners, some of who broke personal records because of the great weather," Mrs Griffiths said.
New Lambton Heights' David Bradney placed first in the 10.5-km fun run with 00.35.02 on the clock, while Pelican's Angela Leadbeatter won it for the ladies with 00.38.33.
Mark Warren and Kristen Molloy took out the half marathon, with times 01.12.39 and 01.24.29 respectively.
In the kids' scamper, Patrick Holding and Sunny Carusi dominated the 8-10 age group, while Cal Lang and Sienna Steele placed first in the 11-13 division.
Lingard Hospital was the corporate team winner of the day, with 30 staff competing in the fun run.
Kath, Kim and Sharon from the Central Coast won the award for best dressed on behalf of Newcastle Permanent.
Next year the organisers hope to attract a record 3000 entrants.
