Minor premiers Norths were down 1-0 early but came back to defeat The Entrance 4-1 in the major semi-final at Newcastle International Hockey Centre.
The Entrance will take on Souths in the preliminary final on Sunday at Wyong after the Lions beat Maitland 3-0 in the minor semi at Broadmeadow.
Ramsay Bell scored a double for Souths, converting a penalty in the 27th minute and a penalty corner in the 69th.
Tom Duck jumped on a loose ball in the 21st minute to open the scoring for Souths, who earned seven penalty corners and were the sharper side up front.
In the major semi-final, Ben Craig converted a penalty stroke to put The Entrance ahead in the eighth minute. Nick Hill scored a field goal for Norths in the 27th minute to make the score 1-1 at half-time.
Norths' slick, short-passing game clicked into gear in the second half as Joel Reeves and Jordan Willott struck field goals in the 39th and 57th minutes.
Matt Dawson put away a penalty stroke in the 66th to cement the result.
On Saturday, defending premiers Regals powered into the Newcastle Women's Premier League grand final with a 5-0 rout of Central.
University ended Oxfords' season with a 2-1 victory in the minor semi-final and will meet Central next week to decide Regals' grand final opponents.
University led 2-0 through goals from Kristy Alexander and Katie Potter. Kristen Stone pulled one back for Oxfords with 10 minutes left. Oxfords coach Stephen Mina was proud of his side's effort to finish fourth after three years of wooden spoons.
