MORE than 23,000 fans packed into Hunter Stadium last Sunday to farewell Knights player Danny Buderus.
The 35-year-old received a standing ovation from the sea of red and blue fans as he left the field after his final home game.
Talk of his retirement started 12 weeks ago after he struggled to recover from two back operations in the space of three months.
It is hoped he will be able to pull the jersey on for the season's last four weeks.
However, the Knights star went out in style at home with 54-6 win over the Parramatta Eels after his first career conversion.
The win was the team's third biggest winning margin in history and sent them straight to the finals.
