CENTRAL will play Regals in the Newcastle Women's Premier League grand final after they beat University 2-0 on Saturday.
The match was goalless in the first half, but Gabby Purcell and Rachel Latter scored after the break to give Central the victory.
The Entrance produced their gutsiest game of the season on Sunday to beat Souths 3-2 in extra time and move to the Hunter Coast Men's Premier League Hockey grand final against Norths.
Ben Craig scored in the top corner with 20 seconds left in extra time to give the Devils the win, even though were a player short for almost half the game.
Jordan McPherson was red-carded in the 60th minute for pushing a Souths player in retaliation.
McPherson will miss Saturday's grand final at Broadmeadow unless The Entrance are successful in fighting the automatic suspension at the judiciary.
"There's some discussions to be had, but I think at the end of the day the rules are what they are, and I'll make a few phone calls . . . to see what comes out of it," The Entrance coach Ray Winwood-Smith said.
Tempers flared throughout a physical contest. The Entrance received five green cards, four yellow and one red. Souths were given one yellow card.
John Fernance scored first for Souths from a field goal 10 minutes in, then Kyle Bosworth's penalty stroke put them 2-0 ahead at half-time.
Craig scored early in the second half and with two minutes left, Spanish import Eduardo Garriga equalised to take the game into extra time.
In extra-time drop-off, both sides lost two field players for the first six minutes and then another two for the final six.
The Entrance already had McPherson off, so they had five playing against six when Craig scored the golden goal with 20 seconds left.
The Entrance face Norths in a replay of last year's grand final on Saturday at 3pm.
