MORE than 4000 people who are blind or vision impaired have received audio newsletters this year, thanks to Newcastle High School.
A group of year 9 students headed to Guide Dogs NSW/ACT Newcastle's office last week to package the newsletters.
It was the students' fourth volunteer day at Guide Dogs this year and marked the 60th edition of the CD newsletter Soundtracks.
The free quarterly audio newsletter enables those who cannot read a print newsletter to keep updated with phone applications and support groups.
One student, 15-year-old Abbey Boigt, said she was happy to volunteer not just because she could get out of school but because she could help someone.
Guide Dogs NSW/ACT production manager Debbie How said she could not send the thousands of newsletters without the students' help.
