WHAT used to be the fastest train to Sydney for Newcastle commuters will soon be eight minutes slower.
Under a new train timetable announced by the state government, the fastest train to Sydney will stop more frequently, extending its arrival time at Central station.
It will take two hours and 37 minutes, compared to the current two hours and 29 minutes.
For some, the new timetable will mean reshaping their daily schedule. For others, it could prove more convenient, delivering 105 extra connections between Newcastle and Sydney each week.
