A NEWCASTLE duo have placed third at Lake Macquarie's 24-hour Kathmandu race.
The Kathmandu Adventure Series race, held two weeks ago, gave entrants the option to compete in a 12 or 24-hour long race, which tested them on four core disciplines.
These included mountain biking for 60 kilometres, running 15 to 30km and kayaking 10 to 15km, with the 12-hour course being a condensed version.
The teams of two were also challenged on their navigational skills, given a course map with only a start and finish point marked on it.
Nathan Archer, from Adamstown, and Lindsey Collison, Merewether, entered as a team in the 24-hour race and finished third, finishing in 25 hours.
