LIFELINE need your help - to catch a thief or two.
The not-for profit organisation operates a 24-hour telephone crisis support service and a range of other services - counselling, education and referrals - to relieve the stress and pain of the people of Newcastle and the Hunter.
It does this work, with little government assistance, through the generosity of the community donations and sponsorships.
This week, the charity has been hit hard by six robberies in four days.
Thieves first struck Lifeline’s main counselling and administration office in Newcastle West on Saturday afternoon.
Then over the next three days, a further five robberies occurred at Tighes Hill and Hamilton North.
Unable to find any money or goods of great value, the thieves then caused damaged to the properties.
Lifeline Newcastle & Hunter CEO Kay Chapman said the break-ins were very disappointing.
"It was devastating to come into work and find our premises trashed but we have been heartened by the wonderful support that we have received during this difficult time,” she said.
Mrs Chapman said Lifeline Newcastle & Hunter was asking anyone who has any information on the robberies to phone the Newcastle Police on 4929 0999 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
