YOUNG triathlete Lorcan Redmond has done it again.
The 13-year-old St Phillip’s Christian College student from Waratah competed in the NSW All Schools Athletics Championships last weekend and once again rose to the top.
During a two-day event in Sydney, Lorcan entered two separate races, which he had been training for since the regionals in August.
On Saturday, he endured hot and windy conditions in the 1500-metre race, to place first and smash the national record.
After a long delay due to fires that spread through Homebush in Sunday’s 34-degree heat, Lorcan took on the 3000-metre race the next day.
It was neck-and-neck and Lorcan placed second in a tight finish.
His coach said he did well considering he had to enter in the under-14s division as there was no under-13s level.
Lorcan will travel to Townsville in December to compete in the NSW All Schools National Athletics Championships, where he hopes to secure another win.
