Newcastle charities face big post-Christmas clean-up after residents dump unwanted goods

NEWCASTLE charities have been overloaded with Christmas gift leftovers, with residents dumping piles of unwanted items outside bins and stores.

The problem is two-fold, with some well-meaning donors leaving goods outside "shop closed" signs, while others are rummaging through piles and leaving rubbish behind.

One local resident said he saw a man enlist the help of his children to collect the loot.
