Citizen of the Year was awarded to Pastor Rick Prosser.
For two decades he has served Newcastle through his innovative commitment to the city and its people.
He started RUSH Youth Mentoring Service, a volunteer service supporting "at risk" school kids.
Pastor Prosser has also worked hard to create partnerships between churches and the community, with the most recent example being CityServe 2013.
Young Citizen of the Year was awarded to James Garlick.
James is a cancer survivor and volunteers for the Cancer Council's Relay for Life, helps plan the Cancer Council's NSW Relay for Life Summit and develops and delivers training sessions for the summit.
Community Group of the Year was won by the Pink Frangipani Ball Organising Committee.
They have been working together since 2006 and have raised almost $300,000 for charities in the Newcastle area.
