BAR Beach's Empire Skate Park was buzzing with skaters at the weekend as Novocastrians gathered to show their support for one of the Hunter's biggest skating events.
Thousands settled into the skate park's grandstand on Saturday to watch the third annual Australian Bowl-Riding Championships.
Established by the International Skateboarder's Union, the national event exhibits some of the world's best skateboarders, including Florida's Alex Sorgente.
Among the competitors was pint-sized skater Sabre Norris, 9, who secured the girls' title, and 13-year-old Poppy Olsen from Bondi, who placed second in the girls' division.
International competitor Alex Sorgente took out the pro division, while Brian Patch finished first in the master's division, overtaking Australian champion Luke Foster who placed fourth.
Ballina's Jakob Robinson claimed the amateur competition title.
