NSW Combined High Schools Championships attract strong tennis players

DESPITE stormy weather, the prestigious NSW Combined High Schools Championships were held at the North Parramatta Tennis Centre last week.

A strong field saw Fairy Meadow's Renee McBryde win the open girls' singles and Ruse's Cormac Clissold take home the open boys' singles.

Tournament director Andrew Mitten, of Bathurst, did a great job in managing 13 events with 421 entries from 254 players.

The Northumberland region was best represented by Central Coast's Jeremy Slee, quarter-finalist in the open boys' singles, Ysabel Preller, third round in the open girls' singles, and Lake Macquarie's Jake Foster, third round in the junior boys' singles.

With the Hunter experiencing sunny conditions, the fifth round of our region's Medibank Junior Development Series was conducted at Singleton's Howe Park last Sunday.
