Like many schools across the region, the students celebrated the last week of term and Easter with a hat parade.
The children showed off their colourful handiwork with each class marching around the hall in front of families and friends.
Merewether Public School assistant principal and parade organiser Vicki McKean said the event was also a major school fund-raiser.
This year parents donated "heaps" for the Parents and Citizens' Association raffle.
The raffle of 38 prizes raised about $2000, which will help refurbish the school's private reading areas.
The 39th prize was donated to the Ronald McDonald House at John Hunter Children's Hospital.
Merewether Public School captains Lara Manning and Jack Read-Jones and vice-captains Josie Muggleton-Ryan and Angus Durie hand delivered the Easter basket.
Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW CEO Ross Bingham said the school had delivered Easter donations for more than 10 years.
"I love it when children are giving to children less fortunate - it's very special," he said.
