Newcastle and Lake Macquarie anglers grab a rod this Easter break

BEACH fishers have been enjoying some lovely tailor weighing up to five pounds.

Mullet are at the beaches and up the coast. Bream follow them, and using baits like mullet gut and strip baits will give results.

Lake Macquarie has had an extraordinary run of Arrow squid, which have been used to catch some nice yellow tail kingfish.

Flathead are also in the lake, with soft plastics working well.

Offshore give reef fishing a crack for snapper.

Long tail tuna are still a hot topic. Live baits and high-speed spinning off the rock with poppers or stick baits have been the go-to styles of fishing.
