Although an estimated 10,000 turned up for the dawn service at Nobbys, only a few hundred could cram themselves in the basement floor of City Hall for the 10am service.
The wet weather forced the service from Civic Park to inside, with considerably less people in attendance than previous years.
Umbrellas, raincoats and squeaky shoes filled the room and the corridor outside, as people paid tribute to those who have served our country.
The weather also affected numbers at the Belmont service, with the march cancelled and service moved to Belmont Bowling Club.
Marches were also abandoned in Maitland, Nelson Bay, Tilligerry and Kurri Kurri.
