Anglican Diocese of Newcastle snuffs rumours of land development around Christ Church Cathedral

THE Anglican Diocese of Newcastle is keen to put to bed rumours that it wants to develop land around Christ Church Cathedral. Speculation around the site has been running rampant after the new Anglican Bishop of Newcastle, Greg Thompson, publicly backed the city's high-rise urban renewal plan, which will block view corridors to the cathedral. A diocese spokesperson said there were no immediate plans to develop any land owned by the church in Wolfe Street or buildings west of the cathedral.
