The Cardiff Hawks returned to the winners' circle after beating the Warner's Bay Bulldogs by 39 points at No. 1 Sportsground. 12.5.77 to 4.14.38.
Zac Metcalfe picked up Best on Ground honours and along has was among Cardiff's best, with Sam Haigh, Matt Vukovic and Jackson McMahon.
David Grann and Jackson Pratt were also productive, finishing with three goals a piece.
For Warners Bay, Lachlan Derverell and skipper Ben Burns were excellent. Matthew Spinks and Luke Roach also had strong games.
At Hylton Moore Oval, Avoca defeated Nelson Bay 26.8.164 to 4.6.30.
At Rose Point Park, Newcastle City returned from the bye with an emphatic 161-point win over Singleton, winning 27.21.183 to 3.4.22.
In first division a 10-goal haul from former representative forward Justin McPhan was instrumental in Newcastle City's 54-point win over Newcastle City.
Lake Macquarie recorded their first win in this competition, overcoming Nelson Bay, Terrigal Avoca had to fight hard to withstand Maitland by six points, while Warners Bay proved too strong for Cardiff.
