The Belmont & District Resident's Action Group was formed in response to some local issues not being addressed.
These concerns include the netting of Belmont Baths and road and pedestrian safety at Brooks Parade, Belmont.
The group will work with the Belmont Chamber of Commerce and the Belmont Neighbourhood Centre to address these issues.
Belmont Chamber of Commerce executive committee member Robin Gordon was the driving force behind establishing the group after she noticed the chamber was being inundated with community concerns.
The group was formed after dozens of people attended an initial expressions of interest meeting at Belmont 16s.
The office bearers are Greg Love, Rob Kinloch and Chris Kinlock, while Mrs Gordon has joined Glyn Matthews, Les Smith and Val McEwan on the committee.
They will meet soon to decide a date to hold the first official meeting.
The group envisages it will meet monthly, with a venue yet to be chosen.
Mrs Gordon said while the group would mostly focus on Belmont, it "wouldn't turn away anyone [from a neighbouring suburb] with a serious concern".
The Belmont & District Resident's Action Group is calling for more members.
