Held at Howe Park, Singleton, the Hunter Tennis Academy proved too strong on the day winning by 291 games to 231.
The Hunter Tennis Academy head coach and Howe Park tennis coordinator Gary Brenton was extremely pleased with his charges efforts.
Having recently moved from a coaching position in China, Brenton is overseeing a strong growth in junior tennis in the Singleton area.
The Lake Macquarie Tennis Centre team of Nic and Josh Lochrin, Ashley Cox, Jarrod and Tiarra Azzato, Cassandra Daniluck, Taylor Colic, Katarina Stojkov, Sarah Jenkins, Sarah Guy, Lilly Kelly, Alex Lane and Ava Darby were highly competitive with many sets being six-games-to-five.
The experience gained, particularly playing on the natural grass courts was enormous with the players already planning revenge in the return match later in the year.
Lake Macquarie Tennis Centre players’ determination to battle to the end stood out.
However, training this week will lift a gear with a number of areas identified for improvement.
The centre continues to work hard growing tennis in our region offering a wide range of coaching and playing activities for all ages.
