They battle for new facilities, the use of existing facilities, additional funding, obtaining major fixtures, acquiring of top players, and media coverage.
Instead, they should be working together co-operatively to achieve the best result for the entity and for our sport generally.
Many of our leading Hunter sports administrators see the real need for a head body to oversee guide and assist regional sport. Such a body could promote interaction and communication between sporting organisations, assist with co-promotion of major events, ensure better and more frequent usage of existing facilities, obtain and promote major sporting events (including visits from national and international teams) in the region, consider and determine the acquisition of additional regional facilities, assist with entries into national leagues competitions, and co-ordinate high profile weekends of sport in the region.
Some of our leading sports administrators are looking at continuing to develop the concept of a peak regional sport body.
