The 21-year-old Newcastle Jets striker received multiple offers from overseas clubs after a stellar 18-goal season.
Taggart sealed the deal with Fulham last Tuesday after competing on the Socceroos' 23-man squad in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
He said he was excited about what laid ahead. "I'd like to thank everyone at the Newcastle Jets, including the players, staff and fans, for their fantastic support over the past couple of seasons," he said.
Jets coach Phil Stubbins hopes the signing of Ecuadorean import Edson Montano will cushion the blow of losing Taggart.
