Police presence continues in Belmont after local police station closes for renovations

NSW Police Minister Stuart Ayres has reassured the Belmont community it would not be left without a police presence despite the local police station's temporary closure.

Last Tuesday, Belmont police officers relocated to Charlestown, Swansea and Toronto while their headquarters are transformed into the new Lake Macquarie Police Local Area Command.

Detectives were dispatched to Charlestown and Toronto, while special operations officers have moved to Swansea.

Charlestown and Toronto police stations will continue to operate around the clock.

Swansea Police Station will be open 9am to 5pm, with limited services.

Mobile patrols of Belmont will continue through the transition period.

Residents should call triple zero in case of an emergency.
