THE Newcastle North Stars are under increasing pressure in the 2014 Australian Ice Hockey League season after a third consecutive loss - this time in a double-header weekend to Perth Thunder.

The team went down 7-5 on Saturday and 4-1 on Sunday night in Perth.

The North Stars are not only facing a form slump to seventh but other teams are quickly improving.

North Stars coach Garry Dore said the reduced roster had made the task more difficult, but he was in no mood for excuses.

"We should be able to do a lot better," Dore said.
