The program is co-ordinated in conjunction with Australian Rugby Union Hunter Region staff and Newcastle Hunter Junior Rugby Union.
Hunter junior representative teams will continue to train for the NSW Country Juniors Rugby Union Championships and the NSWJRU State Championships.
Squads will be finalised in February and compete in April and June.
The new rugby union programincludes extended under-12 and under-13 squads.
It will run from November to February and focus on skill development and off-field sessions in nutrition, recovery and goal-setting.
The Junior Gold Program is for 14-to-18-year-olds.
It involves physical, technical, tactical and off-field preparation.
Training sessions will be held three times a week.
The Junior Gold Program will work with athletes who train from October to February and compete in the Junior Gold Championships in March.
Nominations for players, coaches and managers for each program will open in August and close at the end of the month.
Selections will be made in September and the programs will start in term four.
