The 32-year-old world champion basketballer has signed with Gorzow's Polish Basketball League team.

Before her pit stop in Newcastle, Screen attended an Opals training camp on the Central Coast.

She hopes to be selected to compete in the September world championships in Turkey.

With a number of a prestigious accolades, Screen's selection looks promising.

Screen was on the Opals team that won the world championships in 2006 - the only Australian team to have dominated the world stage.

She also won silver at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and bronze at the 2012 London Olympics.

Screen has spent the past three years playing for Adelaide Lightning in the Women's National Basketball League.

She said her prosperous career had taught her three things.

"Love what you do and work hard at it, give back and say thank-you and enjoy the moment," Screen said.

The basketballer gave back during her stay in Newcastle.

She presented an autographed shirt to the Hunter Academy of Sport and the Greater Building Society, both of which have helped her along the way.

She was a five-time recipient of the Greater's Olympic Sports Scholarship, which is managed by the academy.

Screen said the funding was invaluable as it helped cover travel and medical expenses.
