Design Newcastle is an opportunity for community involvement in the next phase of renewal for the city centre and its precincts.
You can get involved through workshops, forums, surveys and online discussion on elements of the revitalisation plan, with a focus on ideas that can be realistically delivered in the next five to 10 years.
Design Newcastle runs throughout July, culminating in a weekend community summit.
On Day 1, 100 randomly selected community members will be invited to represent the diverse demographics and values of Novocastrians.
On Day 2, community group representatives will participate to ensure that all important views are incorporated.
You can participate right now by providing input, ideas and photos on the website's stories and forum pages.
Submitted ideas will be incorporated into summit discussions.
Suggested discussion topics include:
■ How to create and deliver quality, usable public open space;
■ Ideas to activate the city centre, providing places for people to live and work;
■ Adapting heritage buildings including Newcastle rail station to preserve their character.
So why participate in Design Newcastle?
Initiatives that come out of the process will be added to our urban renewal plans, as well as a longer term vision for Newcastle.
These ideas will help bring life to the big picture vision and will shape our city for many years to come.
Take the time to have your say at Design Newcastle.
Our future depends on it.
